Alfen to Showcase ChargePoint-Enabled Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles at the Ecomobiel Show in Rotterdam
Now Available for European Market, ChargePoint Offers Support for OCPP - Open Charge Point Protocol
Rotterdam, Netherlands October 9, 2012 ChargePoint today announced that leading European charging station manufacturer, Alfen, will showcase its ChargePoint-enabled charging stations for electric vehicles (EV) at the Ecomobiel Show in Rotterdam, October 9 - 10, 2012 (booth G043). Now available throughout Europe, the combined solution delivers significant advantages to EV drivers and charging station owners including billing, real-time station availability as well as control and flexibility for successful, widespread EV charging operations. The partnership with Alfen, who has more than 2800 charging stations installed throughout Europe, allows them to offer customers the option of becoming a part of the largest global EV network in the world.
“The cooperation with ChargePoint began more than a year ago which results in the integration of ChargePoint’s network services and Alfen Charging Stations for the European market,” said Jerry van Zundert, CCO of Alfen. “ChargePoint gives us the possibility to extend our services and give our customers more functionality. We are very happy to join their team.”
New Support for OCPP Ensures Easy Integration
ChargePoint also announced it now offers support for Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) 1.5, a globally used protocol for communication between charging stations and networked services. Support of the OCPP standard ensures all OCPP-enabled charging stations can easily integrate with ChargePoint’s network services.
“Alfen is ChargePoint’s first European OnRamp partner,” said Pat Romano, president and CEO of ChargePoint. “ChargePoint’s OnRamp program enables charging station manufacturers to easily connect their equipment with the ChargePoint network. The combination of Alfen’s hardware and ChargePoint has produced a best-of-breed solution that will serve Alfen’s growing European customer base.”
All Alfen networked Charging Stations (the new ICU Eve, ICU Twin, ICU Tube and ICU Tulip) for both public and private applications are equipped to connect to ChargePoint network services. Existing charging stations can be connected to ChargePoint network services as well.
ChargePoint connected Alfen stations will be included on all ChargePoint mobile phone applications for iPhone and Android. These ChargePoint mobile apps provide an easy way to locate stations near any specified address, get turn-by-turn directions, and even start and stop a charging session directly from a smart phone. Additionally, these apps allow drivers to utilize ChargePoint Network's station reservation features (station owner permitting). Drivers can locate reservable stations and make, view and cancel a reservation time slot directly from their smart phone.
