Silicon Valley Leadership Group Installs Coulomb Technologies ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations for EV
Coulomb Provides Infrastructure as First Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrids Arrive in Bay Area for U.S. Demonstration Program
Campbell, Calif. June 15, 2010 – Coulomb Technologies today announced that it will provide ChargePoint® Networked Charging Stations for EVs to the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. The ChargePoint stations will be used to fuel the first three Prius Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHV) as Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc launches their U.S. plug-in demonstration program.
The Leadership Group will be the first demonstration program partner to receive vehicles. Keys to the cars will be handed over to the Leadership Group on Tuesday, June 15 at a 11:15 a.m. press conference. Journalists attending will be invited to take brief drives in the Prius PHV which is capable of running on electricity for approximately 13 miles at speeds up to 62 mph. The press conference will take place in the parking structure between 1735 and 1741 Technology Drive in San Jose and include the following speakers:
- Carl Guardino – CEO and President of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group
- Mary Nickerson – National Manager, Advance Technology Vehicles, Toyota Motor Sales, USA
- Mike DiNucci – Vice President Strategic Accounts, Coulomb Technologies
- Tom Werner, CEO of SunPower Corp, who will drive one of the three PHV's’ for six weeks.

A total of 150 PHVs will be delivered to demonstration program partners across the U.S. as part of a global program to demonstrate plug-in hybrid technology, educate and inform the public and capture real-world driving data. A total of 600 Prius PHVs will be deployed around the world, including the 150 in the U.S. Later this summer another 30 of the demonstration program vehicles will be assigned to Silicon Valley groups and companies, including UC Berkeley. As it becomes available, data from the U.S. demonstration programs will be posted on www.toyota.com/esq. The information gathered from the demonstration program will be used in the development of the next generation Prius PHV coming to market in 2012.
