Bluebonnet And Hyatt Regency Lost Pines To Install Electric Vehicle Charging Stations At The Bastrop Resort And Spa

Bastrop – Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative and the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa are partnering to install two electric vehicle charging stations capable of charging four cars at a time at the Bastrop County resort hotel. This is the first partnership between Bluebonnet and one of its members to provide public charging stations for electric vehicles. The co-op’s service area includes major highways between Austin, San Antonio and Houston.

“Hyatt Regency Lost Pines is an ideal partner for this project and a perfect, logical place for us to install the first electric vehicle charging stations in our service area,” said Mark Rose, Bluebonnet’s general manager. “It’s one of the best resort hotels in the country and a prime destination for conferences, company retreats and meetings, and family vacations. The ability to charge electric vehicles will be add to the Hyatt’s sustainable initiatives and allow it to better serve its eco-minded guests.”

The resort, located west of Bastrop on Texas 71, currently provides electric vehicle charging, but does not have permanent charging stations capable of handling more than one car at a time. “We have certainly seen an increase in the number of guests traveling to our destination in electric vehicles, and we are truly thrilled to work with Bluebonnet to bring electric vehicle charging stations to our property,” said Steve Dewire, Hyatt Regency Lost Pines general manager. “These charging stations are a wonderful example of just how valuable our longstanding relationship with Bluebonnet is to the resort experience, and this project is yet another way we are able to collaborate to enhance the quality of that experience. In addition, we are delighted to be offering use of these charging stations on a complimentary basis for our guests, as well as those who are visiting our hotel for meetings events and spa and golf outings.”

The charging stations going in at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines are ChargePoint fast chargers. ChargePoint operates the world’s largest electric vehicle charging network with more than 17,700 locations in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The charging stations will have universal connectors capable of charging electric cars made by major manufacturers, including Nissan, Chevrolet, Toyota, Tesla and BMW. Each charging station can accommodate two cars at a time.

Bluebonnet and Hyatt Regency Lost Pines teams are working together to prepare the on-site location for the stand-alone, pedestal-style charging stations. The charging stations will be near the hotel entrance, by the valet parking area, and will be ready for guests by the end of July.

The electric vehicle charging stations at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines are part of a Bluebonnet initiative to work with local businesses and developers to install charging stations in the co-op’s service area. Bluebonnet’s service area encompasses parts of 14 Central Texas counties between Austin, San Antonio and Houston. Major highways in the Bluebonnet’s service area include I-35, U.S. highways 290 and 183, and Texas highways 71 and 130.

More people are seeing the value and benefit of electric cars, from the Nissan Leaf to Tesla’s models. By partnering with them and investing in electric vehicle charging stations we are providing a service that will bring in additional money for our local businesses and tax revenue for our communities.”
